Flash Fiction Friday: Becoming whole

Becoming whole

With my legs crossed and head bowed I sat, naked, at the edge of the incoming sea and waited. Waited for what I hadn't a clue but as soon as it happened I would know. As the tide came closer, and I began to sink in to the wet sand, the pain tore through my body.
Wincing in agony it felt as if my body was tearing apart only no sooner had the pain began it stopped and the first of my wings, wings as black as the sky I had fallen from, unfurled from the newly opened wound on my back.
