Flasher Fiction Friday #2

Children of the Night welcome to yet another Flash Fiction Friday. This is when a group of very talented authors take the same picture and, in only 100 words, craft a short tale for your delectation.

Her change had begun hours earlier, the wings sprouting first as they always did. No wonder she was crouching, her head in her hands, the pain was almost too much to bear. I had sat here watching since she first arrived by the water’s edge, hoping that she would complete the transformation and not throw herself into the icy depths like so many before her. The transformation which would give her more freedom than she had ever thought possible. Only a few more hours and she would be one of us, and the two of us would be together again.

A beautiful tale of possibilities. Will she make it and if she does, will the struggle continue? So many lovely questions. Cool flash, well done!

very ... I was going to say nice, but that's not the apropriate word. In lack of a better word, I'll just say that I love the way you "see" the story behind that pic. It fits so well. I hope she'll have the strengh to wait for her complete transformation... I love happy ending :)
