Interviews from The Crypt

Welcome all creatures of the night and thank you for stopping by to feed on today’s victim, I mean visitor, Dawne Prochilo.

First of all I would just like to say hi and welcome to The Crypt Dawne and thank you for stopping by today.

Why don’t you introduce yourself to my creatures of the night and tell us a little about yourself.
I am a mother of three grown children, an author and writer, a wife and all-around people person. I have six novels out now, three more scheduled for release in October and one in November and four more on contract for 2012. When not buried in promotions, edits or writing, you can find me in the kitchen cooking and baking- my second love. I also do book reviews for three sites and adult toy reviews for two online companies. I'm also the Promotions Director and Review Coordinator for an eBook publisher. I love every aspect of my life.

When did you first begin to write? Was there a specific moment or did something happen to make you think ‘I could be a writer’?
I realized when I was a freshman in high school that I wanted to be an author. The first memory I have of writing was when I was in grade school. I loved creating stories and weaving tales. And since I've always been a 'hard-core' reader, writing just seems natural for me.

What are you currently working on? Would you mind giving the readers a quick synopsis in 100 words or less?
It depends- I have seven WIP's right now- but the one I have a deadline on is for Ravenous Romance called A Cougar's Revenge. Take two women discovering their sexuality late in life, mix in a new younger, hotter-than-hell stud for a boss and you get a little F/F, ménage and cougar-esque calling out to you. Oh yes, and add in the workplace sexual relationship and that A Cougar's Revenge- due out in early 2012.

Where do you draw your inspiration for your stories, characters and settings?
From everyday life. I'll be watching a couple in a store, a television commercial or even a sporting event game and something in my brain clicks and the idea is born. My mind works in very mysterious ways- it even amazes me.

Is there one particular genre you prefer writing in and is there a genre you would never attempt and if so why?
I started writing sweet contemporary romance in 2009, but evolved into erotic romance in 2010 when I identified my love for the hotter side of romance. I always have HEA and all the characters have substance and the plot is the main structure with the sexual escapades being secondary.

If you weren’t a writer/ couldn’t write anymore what would you do?
I've never thought about it. I've been an administrative assistant or office assistant for many years, so I would revert back to that career- my comfy zone.

If you could become a member of the opposite sex for 24 hours what would be the first thing you would do?
Often wondered this- I need to discover what an orgasm feels like. I've had the men in my life try to explain it to me but I want to feel it...experience it firsthand.

Which fantasy creature/being do you like the most?
I'm partial to the fairy creature. Very magical and yet, mysterious. They have a positive undertone to them that I find intriguing since I am more of a positive person in real life.

If you could be your favourite fantasy figure what would be the first thing you would do?
I would scour the world making unhappiness an unknown feeling. Take away the pain people feel from broken hearts, loss of a loved one and make people believe in mankind again.

What scares you the most?
Losing my family. I can't imagine one day without my children around. I almost lost my oldest daughter in 2006, due to a head injury and it put life into perspective for me fast.

Favourite film?
Silly as it sounds- The Breakfast Club- a cult classic that stands the test over time. My children, now adults, loved it. They could relate to every character in that library on that Saturday morning.

Worst film you have ever seen?
I can only pick one? I guess I would have to say anything with Arnold Schwarzenegger in it. I just don't get into that scene- phony and unrealistic plus some pretty bad acting.

Favourite book?
All time favourite book would have to be Maya Banks' Colters' Woman. It was the first ménage I ever read and I sat up all night until I finished it. All time un-erotic favourite book is

When you go shopping what is the one thing that you always HAVE to buy?
Mountain Dew – I am an addict of that damn soda. *Sigh*

Going back to favourite film write an erotic scene featuring the main characters in 100 words or less.
I'm not sure that I could such a blurb- after all, they are only teenagers. Taboo and all- lol

And finally, just for a light hearted end to the interview.
What words would you want etched on your tombstone?
For the erotic author and adult toy reviewer in me, just three little words.

EXCERPT- A Cougar's Revenge
“Dee,” the man stood, his hand wavering to halt her progression. She mocked his weak attempt and motioned his hand away.
“Don't do this.” His plea ignored as Deanna looked at the cover model equivalent woman in her presence. Her lush auburn hair flowed over her shoulders, half covering her pliant bogus breasts. Hefty dollar amount spent there and Deanna distinguished one was larger than the other. While it wasn't her concerned, the visual of money tossed away so carelessly fuelled her rage for revenge.
“Dee.” The man continued pleading for his reputation, keeping his dignity.
Deanna pursed her lips, thinking how he was so concerned with what could possibly happen here in front of his peers versus the humiliation he'd inflicted upon her just months earlier with the display of her affair with...Deanna's eyes darted back to the auburn haired bimbo.
“Don't even go there, Dee.” His voice warned.
She smirked sideways at him, her lip twitching with anticipation of the eruption starting inside her. “I'll go where I choose to, Phillip.” Her teeth clenched as she spoke to him, her eyes never wavering from the woman sitting like a skittish trapped animal. Her significant sized brown eyes appeared larger than normal. The pure fright on her face, made Deanna feel triumphant before she even said what she came here to say.
“Dee.” Phillip gave one final cautionary declaration.
“What?” Deanna spun her head to glare at her ex-husband. “Afraid I may embarrass you? Scared your reputation is at stake?”
Phillip opened his mouth to speak but Deanna uphold her rant.
“I really don't give a rat's ass, Phillip. I don't care who hears me. I don't care what these stick up their asses people think about me...or you for that matter.”
“Dee, stop...”
“Oh, you stop, Phillip!” Deanna's inside were in turmoil and she needed to complete this final task in her divorce retaliation so closure could happen. “You ruined my reputation as well as our twenty year marriage because you couldn't keep you dick zipped up...” she waved her hand towards the room of diners. “Just like all the men in here tonight. They are assholes who can't keep their lust and cocks under control.”
“Dee...”
“Shut the fuck up, Phillip!”  A few gasps erupted from the female companions in attendance.
Deanna returned her attention to the bimbo. “I don't know your name, nor do I care. But let me tell you this...” She stepped closer to the woman, who shifted in her seat away from Deanna. “If he did this to me, I can guarantee he'll do it to you also, honey.”
“I don't think...”
“Ack.” Deanna mocked her. “Think what you want, but once a cheater, always a cheater.”
“Phillip...”
“Can't keep his pecker under control, sweetie.” Deanna glanced at Phillip, who stood rigid and kept glancing over his shoulder to see who he knew could hear the exchange. His nervousness made her chuckle. “See missy,” she cocked her head in his direction. “He's probably concerned with what female diners witnessing this incident may hold it against him once you and he break it off.”
“Phillip wouldn't ever leave me!” The little vixen had a backbone as she spat the words at Deanna.
In response, Deanna threw her head back and laughed heartily. “Think whatever that pea-brain of a mind allows you too. But think about this...” Deanna tossed her blonde hair over her shoulder. “I thought he'd never leave me either, but guess what? He did.”
“Oh, you're just jealous because you couldn't satisfy him. He needed more.” The bimbo was a fighter for sure.
“I didn't give him enough?” Deanna barked with uproarious laughter. “You mean making love to him five days a week, blowing his cock outside every restaurant we went to three times a week and letting him tie me up and fulfill his fantasies all the time wasn't enough?”
Deanna tilted her head in Phillip's direction. “So, you told her that you were neglected? You poor thing.”
“Well, let me tell you sweetie,” she cocked her head back to the bimbo. “He lied. He always will lie and, most importantly, he will cheat on you with the same lies and eventually leave you.”
“Oh, you're just bitter.” The woman fluttered her hand, dismissing Deanna's allegations.
“Well, we'll see.” Deanna spun on her heels, but before making a dramatic exit, she said over her shoulder, “when he does all that to you, don't come crying to me.”

What an intense excerpt. This looks to be an exciting book, Dawne. I'm putting it on my TBR list. Great interview, too.
