Flash Fiction Friday: The beginning of the new world

The beginning of the new world

Even though the bedside clock said it was 13:25 the darkness of my room told a different story. Easing myself out of the bed I padded across to the window and slowly opened the blinds, only to confronted by the reddest sky I had ever seen. Even the river, thanks to the reflection of the sky, looked as though the water had been somehow replaced with blood.
Unsure what the hell was happening I quickly dressed and headed outside, to find the streets completely deserted. Taking another look to the sky I was suddenly knocked to the ground, by the one thing I'd spent my whole life searching for.
