Can love be blind to gender?
Allow me, if you will, to set you a scene.
You are heterosexual, you always have been, single and out at a bar/club
with a few friends when you see the most beautiful/handsome person you have
ever seen. After making eye contact a few times you break away from your
friends, make your way across and introduce yourself. Following a few drinks
and a long conversation, in which you find you both enjoy the same things, it's
time to call it a night but before you go your separate ways you exchange
numbers.
For the next few weeks you speak daily on the phone, meet up a few more
times and before you know it, and without meaning for it to happen, you both
realize that you are falling deeper and deeper in love. More meets and more
phone conversations follow before you both decide that you want to take the
relationship to the next level, to the bedroom.
Now close your eyes and think of the above scene in your mind only, this
time, the person you have fallen for is not a member of the opposite sex, like
every person you have ever fallen in love with before, but someone that makes
you question your lifelong heterosexuality.
Is it really possible that something, which almost everyone feels at some
point in their lives, can be so powerful that everything you have ever thought
about yourself and your sexuality can, all of a sudden, just be forgotten in
the pursuit of happiness?
