Flash Fiction Friday: Painting the future

FLASH

FICTION

FRIDAY

Painting the future

As I walked in to the studio I saw Lisa sitting on the floor, in front of one of my first attempts at art, and I froze.
She's pretty, who is she,” she asked, turning her head to face me.
No one in particular,” I lied.
If she knew the truth she wouldn't understand no one would, that's just the way society was. You see the truth was the painting she liked so much was me, or at least would be me, once I had finally sold enough paintings to pay for the surgery I desperately wanted.

Please take your time to visit all the other wonderful flashers, and their interpretation of the very same picture I have used

There is something about the way you wrote that, that made me read so fast. I was desperate to find out who the painting was of. Excellent twist. Great flash.xxx

I agree with J.P. I wonder if he will tell her the truth, I wonder if she will understand. Great flash.

Captivating flash. The more I read, the more I wanted to know. Great pull on my emotions there right at the end too. Great Flash.

What a great flash. Really portrayed his/her desire and dreaming.

What a great twist for an ending...or a beginning. The shroud of his shame was visceral, and an unfortunate reaction of most people. You crafted this piece to encompass both their feelings in a few short words, which is amazing. Loved it, Julez:) xo
