Transphobia-It is time for change

TRANSPHOBIA

As the day draws ever nearer I can imagine that there are still people out there with an unacceptable attitude towards many things in life, three of those being Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, and Transphobia is the topic of today's blog

According to Wikipedia - Transphobia (or less commonly cissexismtransprejudice, and trans-misogyny, referring to transphobia directed toward trans women, ortrans-misandry, referring to transphobia directed toward trans men) is a range of negative attitudes and feelings towards transsexualism and transsexual or transgender people, based on the expression of their internal gender identity (see Phobia – terms indicating prejudice or class discrimination). Whether intentional or not, transphobia can have severe consequences for the target of the negative attitude. Many trans people also experience homophobia from people who associate their gender identity with homosexuality. Attacking someone on the basis of a perception of their gender identity rather the perception of their sexual orientation is known as "trans bashing", as opposed to "gay bashing".

The reason I am talking about this is because once Star Search, my first major published work, is released transsexualism will become a big part of people's lives. Even if you don't read it you may hear, and see, people talking about it, whether on Social networking sites or in other various media outlets, and I just know that there will be people out there unloading with negativity, even if they don't read it, and it is to those people that I would just like to say:

FUCK OFF AND GROW SOME BALLS THIS IS 2011 NOT 1811. THERE IS NO PLACE FOR GENDER PHOBIA ANY LONGER.

The reason I first wrote Star Search was because of how transsexuals in erotic fiction were portrayed, as nothing more than sex toys and cum dumps. There was very little mention of love or romance, all things that transsexuals, like everyone else, are entitled to have in their lives and I decided it was time to redress the balance.

I have a lot of friends and followers on social networking sites that are transsexual and, although technically straight, I am not going to deny that some of them are some of the most beautiful women that I have ever seen. Women like Vaniity, Brittany St. Jordan, Liberty Harkness, Mia Isabella et al could easily stand next to any woman and people who did,n't know them would NEVER be able to tell they weren't women.

LIBERTY HARKNESS

MIA ISABELLA

BRIT ST. JORDAN

VANIITY

I really hope people enjoy StarSearch when it comes out, for me it was something I thoroughly enjoyed writing, and something that I hope will make people think.

And for anyone affected by, or knows of, any form of transphobia whatsoever there are a number of agencies that you can talk to including http://www.transphobia.org.uk/.

News reports like this one http://www.metro.co.uk/lifestyle/871176-transphobia-the-battle-for-change are getting more and more common and that is wrong. IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE.

And if there are any transsexual women out there who read this and would like to come into The Crypt to tell people what life is really like for them they would be most welcome.

I have viewed recently some woman that are TS and I have to admit they are beautiful with very lush bodies. To some degree jealousy erupts in me...if only to look that tone and sexually attractive

People do need to realize things are changing and change may not always be good but have an open-mind. if you cannot accept change then leave the ridicule behind your closed doors. not everyone shares the same views, we are all entitled to our opinions

The pictures of these women truly express their beauty. Excellent way you presented your article and promotion. I hope your wrong about some people expressing their transphobia. You are absolutely right that it is time peop[le change from negativity to positive perceptions and understanding. Your book is going to be a great success.

Great post Julez. It is time for people to grow up and realize that everyone's different and that is the beauty of humans.

I'm so tired of people's ideas what they consider to be abnormal. Nothing is ABNORMAL.

Get over it!

Accept the GLBT community. If you don;t like it, try to find a place where none exist. I bet you'll have a hard time finding one.

I have to agree with all the above posts. Accept people for who they are not what you think they should be.
Julez I am in awe of the way you have expressed your views on this subject and I know if you didn't feel so passionately about eliminating Transphobia you would never have written Star Search.
I remember when I first read it before you submitted it to NNP and even though I knew in the back of my mind that you were writing about TS, I have to admit that the beauty in the way you expressed the story had me forgetting and for that to happen is a beautiful gift in itself.
To be able to transport your reader to the point that they forget the sex of the character and see them only as a stunning sensual creature that should be loved and adored by that special "one" is a talent.
Kudo's on the post and Kudo's for standing up for what you believe in.

I admit that this is not a subject that I read. But I have several friends that are transgendered and they are some of the most genuine people I know.

People are often afraid of what they do not know or understand. There needs to be more education.

This is a powerful post, though I am happy being female and do not wish to grow balls.

People need to stop fearing and hating what they do not understand. Perhaps your story will shed some light on a subject that has to long stood in the dark.

As a trans reader, I loved this for so many reasons! So very well said . . . honest, passionate, and confrontational where it needs to be.

I can't wait for Star Search - it's definitely going on my watch list for new reads.

Hugs,
Sally
