Interview from The Crypt: Pablo Michaels

Interview from The Crypt: Pablo Michaels

Once again the doors to The Crypt creak as they open slowly to allow yet another unsuspecting soul deep inside and today's willing victim, I mean visitor, is the wonderful Pablo Michaels.

First of all I would just like to say welcome to The Crypt Pablo and thank you for stopping by today.

So Pablo to begin why don’t you introduce yourself to my creatures of the night and tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Pablo Michaels, an aspiring writer, even though I have published. I write primarily LGBT fiction, mostly M/M.  I like to express passion and romance. Erotica comes as a supplement to the story and characters of each piece I write. I am legally married to my husband of fifteen years in California, the San Francisco region.

When did you first begin to write? Was there a specific moment or did something happen to make you think ‘I could be a writer’?

I have written most of my life but still wondering if I can write.

What are you currently working on? Would you mind giving the readers a quick synopsis in 100 words or less?

I am writing a gay vampire story based on two characters I knew from the 1980’s in San Francisco. I have never tried this genre before. Living in the neighborhood where Anne Rice wrote her Vampire Chronicles, I was drawn by the passion of love with her characters, so I decided to try one of my own, Leather Sweat, Semen and Blood.. I also am working on my next novel, The Deer in the Forest, about an historical perspective about a gay man who cannot conform to the lifestyles of the normal, both heterosexual and homosexual.  F. Scott Fitzwater, the main character, lives a life of delusions as being a schizophrenic and suffers depression. His greatest goal is to write as a novelist and live life within his own sanity.

Where do you draw your inspiration for your stories, characters and settings?

I draw my inspiration from real live people and characters from books that I have read. My settings are always changing from urban to more natural landscapes.

Is there one particular genre you prefer writing in and is there a genre you would never attempt and if so why?

Preferring to write LGBT genre, I can have more compassion for the people I most care for in real life. I would not write science fiction, because I don’t want to predict the future like many writers in this genre have been able to do.

If you weren’t a writer/ couldn’t write anymore what would you do?

If I could not write, I would probably go totally insane. There is nothing I want to do other than that to keep myself happy and well balanced for others.

If you could become a member of the opposite sex for 24 hours what would be the first thing you would do?

If I could be a woman for twenty-four hours, I would like to see if I could please a man sexually and spiritually as well as I have tried as a man.

Which fantasy creature/being do you like the most?

My super hero would have to be Superman. I grew up with his legend and style my daily life after his character even though I don’t succeed.

If you could be your favourite fantasy figure what would be the first thing you would do?

What scares you the most?

Heights and claustrophobia.

Favourite film?

My favorite film would have to be Auntie Mame starring Rosalind Russell. I think her idea of living life to the fullest even in the worst of times gets one through life.

Worst film you have ever seen?

Love Story. It was so sappy I walked out on it.

Favourite book?

I have so many favorite books it is hard to decide. I loved the classics by Homer. Hemingway instilled the lust for life. Steinbeck showed compassion for ordinary people. Currently I like the mystery writer, Richard Stevenson with his sagas of Donald Strachey.

When you go shopping what is the one thing that you always HAVE to buy?

When I go shopping, the things I must buy are sexy men’s underwear, fresh fruit, red wine and cigarettes.

Going back to favourite film write an erotic scene featuring the main characters in 100 words or less.

Back when Auntie Mame enrolled young Patrick is the Bohemian school with the hunky Greek professor, which really turned me on sexually as a young adolescent, I would have that hot man nude teaching the Patrick and the young boys nude how to fornicate with other men, with namely Mame’s financial advisor friend, and Mame with Vera teaching the young girls how to have sex with each other. This would be an x-rated version with a twist of Henry Miller.

And finally, just for a light hearted end to the interview.

What words would you want etched on your tombstone ?

On my tombstone although I want to be cremated, I want the words to speak: Here is a man who lived his life fully with passion and compassion. follow in my footsteps and live.

Thank you for joining me today Pablo and I would like to wish you all the best in future endeavours.

So until I, once again, need to feed this is Julez S Morbius saying keep your necks clean, you never know when I will come calling.
