Patience is a virtue
It had taken me months, and probably more Americanos that were good for me, to finally convince Dawn to come out on date with me. Ever since the first I day saw her, in that coffee shop, I just knew she was the perfect woman. She has gorgeous, shoulder length, blonde hair, the bluest eyes I had ever seen, and a figure any woman would love to have.
As we finished our meals she moved around, to sit next to me, and rested her head on my shoulder. Kissing her on the forehead I rested my head against hers.
“That wasn’t too bad, was it?” I asked her, with a smile.
“No, it was perfect,” she replied.
“Hopefully you’’ agree to come out with me again. Maybe go clubbing.”
“I’d love to but...” she began, before pausing mid-sentence, a lone tear rolling down her cheek.
“But what?” I asked.
“Look, Shane, this has been wonderful,” she began. “Better than I could ever have even wished for.”
“So let the two of us enjoy more great times, together.”
“I’d love to, more than anything else,” she whispered softly, the upset in her voice making speaking difficult. “But I’ve not been one hundred percent honest with you.”
“What do you mean?” I asked. “You’re not married, or anything are you?”
“If only it was that simple.”
“So, what is it then?”
“Look there's no easy way to tell you this, and I’ll understand, completely, if you never want to have anything else to do with me.”
“Please, Dawn, just tell me.” I said, as I pulled her as close as possible.
Taking a deep breath Dawn took a large drink, from the wine she still had left.
“Just promise me you won’t get angry,” she said. “I’ll understand if you just leave.”
Dawn I am not going to get angry nor am I going to just leave.” I said, hoping to reassure her.
“Okay you asked. There is no easy way to tell you this,” she began. “The truth is I'm transgender.”
“So...” I replied, before pausing for a second. “...will you come out clubbing with me then or what?”
