Flash Fiction Friday: Everyone's a critic

FLASH

FICTION

FRIDAY

Everyone's a critic

I had seen countless works of fantasy art, by some of the greatest artists of all time, all of them superior to this one. Yet the more I stared, thoughts of negativity coursing through my mind, the more I was unable to turn away, as the picture seemed to take on a life of its own.
The brilliant white light suddenly began to pulse with energy and the smoke began to swirl, as if it was alive.
Unable to stop myself I reached forward and suddenly found myself in a pitch black room, a pulsing ball of light between my hands.

There is a foreboding twist to this ball of light he's left holding between his hands, presuming the person holding it is male. I'd like to know what ensues in the pitch black room.

I love the lead in- so ordinary and then by the end everything has changed.

This was an especially charged and captivating piece. Similar to life behind a mirror, as one gets closer, more curious, in a snap, it all changes and your world is tossed into a vortex. I LOVED this paranormal piece, Julez. :) xo

An interesting post, definitely a great hook. This reminds me of an old book of eerie black-and-white illustrations I had as a child, each with one line of an unfinished story attached to them. The idea was for the reader to wonder what the artust and writer coukd possibky gave had in mind. It left you so curious to know... this makes me feel the same way.
