Flash Fiction Friday: The haunting melody (A tale from beyond the grave)

FRIDAY

The haunting melody (A tale from beyond the grave)

At first I just thought I was hearing things but, as the haunting melody continued, I headed toward where the sound was coming from. I hadn't heard music played as beautifully before, and I was hypnotized by the sound.
Following the music I ventured into the forest and eventually came to a small clearing, where I finally saw her. The tune pulled me closer until I could touch her, and that was when she turned.
As I saw her face I screamed in terror, just before she tore my beating heart from my chest.

Gruesome yet sad. If it hadn't been for the title I would have jumped in shock, but the progression of the story from the beginning until the last sentence flowed smoothly for just 100 words. Then the complete reversal for the surprise ending, Great Flash.

Oh, Julez, that was a surprise! I thought they would have fairy sex or something foresty and playful. You never cease to alert me to the possibilities, but I never, ever learn and fall for it every time! Loved, loved it! Great flash:) xi
