Flash Fiction Friday: The Longest Walk

The longest walk

As I walked along the beach, occasionally staring out to the horizon, I thought of the last words she had said and played them over and over again in my head trying to make sense of her reasons she and felt totally destroyed, not too mention humiliated.
Sure she might have been crying as the truth of her affair, her apologies and her promises that it was a one-off and would never happen again, spilled from her lips but I knew there was no way forward for us, not after she told me who the affair had been with.

She must have had an affair with someone painfully destructive to their relationship. Poor guy should have told her off.

Betrayal is the worst form of killer. It takes the relationship and guts it immediately, spreads the humiliation like intestines around the unsuspecting victim then repeats like an endless looped tape in ones head until the love finaly dies the slowest death. It is the most painful death of love as it takes the memories with it, so there is no future, of course, but the gift of the past is gone, too. Great post, Julie:) xo

I'm well acquainted with betrayal and this piece captured it perfectly.

Julez! Who?! I'm going to be thinking about the answer to that question. So interesting that he has so many questions and he's made a big decision too. Compelling flash.
